Colonial Healthcare

Dear valued patient, please take a minute to read this message:

In response to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken the following steps to ensure your safety and preserve your ability to receive quality medical care.

2. We now have dedicated entrances and waiting areas for patients who are presenting for routine follow-ups / scheduled appointments. Patients with acute respiratory illnesses will NOT be present in these areas. Being able to safely continue to receive routine medical care is essential. Unlike many other medical clinics, all of our Colonial Healthcare offices are uniquely set up to allow these safe areas. We want our patients to feel comfortable coming into our offices, and we do not want to unnecessarily expose you or our hard-working staff to any infections.

3. We have a new sick bay set up where we will triage and treat patients with acute respiratory illnesses, often from their cars. This minimizes the chance of spreading infections. For each location, if you are ill with an acute respiratory illness, there are clear directions on our exterior doors directing you with a number to text or call so that we can ensure you receive efficient care.

4. We have secured COVID-19 coronavirus tests with a (48-72 hour) turnaround and are ready to test any patients who are suspected of having the virus. As there now have been documented cases in Sumter, Manning, and Columbia, we want to be a leader in testing patients. As above, this testing will be done in a separate area with a dedicated team away from our non-acutely ill patients. No appointment is necessary to be tested.

5. We offer same day and walk-in appointments. We will see you today!

6. Our Sumter and Manning Urgent Care locations are open 7-days a week, including most holidays - only closing 3 days a year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years).

7. We have increased our sanitation efforts. We take precautions to protect our patients and staff from contracting illnesses when they come to see their provider.

Making sure we protect our community, patients, and staff so you can continue to see your provider remains our focus during this difficult time.

Thank you for choosing Colonial Healthcare. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve you!

More information about the COVID-19 Coronavirus:

Colonial Healthcare is monitoring the current outbreak of coronavirus known as COVID-19. New cases of COVID-19 continue to be confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) throughout the U.S. It is believed that COVID-19 can be spread person-to-person via close contact with individuals who are currently symptomatic with the disease.

How Is it Spread?

  • Through the air by coughing and sneezing
  • Close personal contact, such as touching or shaking hands
  • Touching an object or surface with the virus on it, then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes

Who Is at Risk?

Steps for Prevention

Avoid close contact

Avoid close contact with people who are sick. When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick, too.

Stay home when you are sick

If possible, stay home from work, school, and running errands when you are sick. This will help prevent spreading your illness to others.

Cover your mouth and nose

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick. Flu and other serious respiratory illnesses, like respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), whooping cough, and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), are spread by coughing, sneezing, or unclean hands.

Clean your hands

Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth

Germs are often spread when a person touches something that is contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.

Practice good health habits

Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work, or school– especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
