Medical Emergencies
In the event of a life-threatening medical emergency, call emergency medical services at 911 immediately. DO NOT WAIT! Inform the emergency room staff that you are a patient of Colonial Healthcare, and they will contact us.
Insurance / Payment / Billing
Submit a payment online or call our main office to make a payment by phone at (803) 773-5227.
Colonial Healthcare participates with most insurance plans. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company to verify that we participate with your plan.
As a courtesy to you, Colonial Healthcare will file claims to your primary and secondary insurance plans. Once your insurance plan has paid its contracted amount, you are required to pay the remaining balance.
A bill from Colonial Healthcare will be sent to your address for this remaining balance and payment is due within 30 days of receipt. If you need assistance making payments, please contact our main office at (803) 773-5227.
It is your responsibility to inform Colonial Healthcare in a timely manner of any changes to your billing and insurance information, and we request your assistance in following up with your insurance company to resolve any non-payment issues.
If an insurance company denies payment for incomplete or wrong information, you must provide us with the correct information or it is your responsibility to make payment in full.
Co-pays are due at the time of the visit and self-pay patients are required to pay for services in full prior to leaving. Also, a valid driver’s license and insurance card must be presented at every visit.
Referrals
If one of our doctors suggests a specialist evaluation or diagnostic testing that requires a referral, we will make every effort to provide this for you as soon as possible. Some referrals require insurance preauthorization and cannot be processed immediately. Insurance guidelines prohibit us from backdating referrals. We require three business days for the processing of routine referrals.

Prescription Requests
Prescriptions and refills for established patients of Colonial Healthcare are routinely issued Monday through Friday during normal business hours. You can make your request by:
- Calling the office you visited
- Submitting a request through our secure Patient Portal
We will respond to your request within 24-48 hours.
No refills are issued during the evenings, weekends, or holidays, as the doctors do not have access to your medical records during those times. It is helpful to anticipate your refill needs to avoid an interruption in your medication therapy.
